My Bio
Years of dedication and work on European and Latin American stages, both solo - piano and chamber music make place to Mónica Cárdenas between Latin American pianists with great international career.
She is also a composer of the contemporary classical genre since a few years ago, where she has already made her place among the most outstanding composers of the 21st century.
This phase as a composer has led her to receive distinctions and award, such as the "Honorable Mention" at the 2. World Championship in Composition 2021 in Austria and the Gold Medal at the Global Music Awards 2021.
Her compositions are for solo piano, chamber music, symphonic, for theater and are performed in USA, Europe and Latin America; she is frequently invited to participate in Festivals and Master Piano Classes.
In Brazil, her "Marinera" Wind Trio was premiered (09 - 2015) and same work was performed on the Clarinet Bass Festival at the University of Rio de Janeiro under the direction of Maestro Thiago Tavares (12 - 2015).
In 2018, she was invited by the University of Riverside, California to give a conference and concert about her style of composition.
In 2019 she is invited by the Jacobs School of Music (University of Indiana, USA) to present her compositional style in a Lecture - recital.
She was co-founder of Cárdenas Trío with whom she performed in concerts for more than two decades in many places. Among the recordings of the Trio is one of the last CD called "Labyrinth" where they interpret classical music of Brazilian composers such as Villa-Lobos, Nazareth, Mignone.
In 2015 Mónica recorded "Anikousto": works for flute and piano, where she performed her sonata "Festejo en Sueños".
In 2020 Mónica will introduce "Influence", a piece for string orchestra in the works of the CD "Espiral" with the production of Ibs Classical, the conductor Alejandro Muñoz and the chamber orchestra Camerata Gala from Cordoba, Spain. https://ibsclassical.es/product/espiral/
Her latest production in 2021 is the CD "10 Preludes and Fugues of Latin America", on which she plays the piano herself. In this work there is also her sonata "Herencia" and the production was done in Germany with the Tonada VP label.
Mónica Cárdenas is Peruvian - Spanish, began her piano studies at the National Conservatory of Music in Lima and then at the Tchaikovsky Conservatories in Kiew and Moscow.
In 2019 she obtained the Fellowship Diploma equivalent to Master's degree in composition from West London University.
She currently lives in Germany where she develops an intense activity as a pianist and composer.
